20 Premier League players to watch - No 12 Sandro

Football.co.uk's rundown of the 20 Premier League players to watch this season continues, with Tottenham Hotspur's Sandro the next man under the spotlight.

Surprisingly the only summer signing made by notorious wheeler-dealer Harry Redknapp so far, Sandro looks set to make an immediate impact on the Premier League.

Regarded as one of the brightest emerging talents in Brazilian football, the 21-year-old joined his local side Internacional at a young age, before graduating to the senior side in 2007.

Known as a tough-tackling defensive midfielder, Sandro netted just four goals in his 94 appearances in Brazil but impressed with his work-rate and range of passing.

Spurs were said to be interested in him last summer but it was not until March of this year that he put pen to paper on a long-term deal, signing for a fee in the region of £7 million.

On the international stage he made eight appearances for Brazil's under 20s before making the step up to senior level where he has just a single cap to his name so far.

With strength and power beyond his years, Sandro looks like a perfect fit for the all-action style of the Premier League.
