Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe insists he is ready to conquer the world with England. [LNB]Defoe was ignored by then manager Sven Goran Eriksson when England took part in Euro 2004 and the last World Cup in Germany four years ago. [LNB]But the 27-year-old is determined to turn the heartache to his advantage when Fabio Capello's takes his squad to South Africa.[LNB] [LNB] Double trouble: Defoe scored two in a friendly against Holland last summer[LNB]'That disappointment has focused my mind more,' Defoe told the Daily Mirror. [LNB]'Everything happens for a reason. For some reason I wasn't meant to play in the last World Cup or Euro 2004. This time I've been determined to make sure I get on the plane and put things right. [LNB]'I am a very different Jermain Defoe compared to four years ago. Sometimes, when you get disappointments, it makes you stronger.[LNB] 'Even at the beginning of the season, in pre-season, I was looking forward to this, making sure I got my mind right.' [LNB]His personal pep talk has worked wonders as Defoe has scored 30 goals for club and country this season. [LNB] High five: Defoe put five goals past Wigan in Spurs' 9-1 win in November[LNB]He added: 'When I went back to the club last July I told the fitness guys I wanted to make sure I was ready. You've got to give yourself the best opportunity to be there. [LNB]'I've always said that goals win matches. The manager knows that. All of us knew there was a World Cup at the end of the season and as a forward you have to work hard and get your goals, which is what I've done. [LNB]'When you're scoring goals you feel confident and you take that into the next game every time. It means you get into good positions because you think you are going to score. [LNB]'This season has been different. It's been perfect. When you're playing games, you feel at the top of your game, fit and sharp when you go out there. [LNB]'And when you're scoring goals, then when England comes around you're the same player. You believe you're going to score.'[LNB] Anyone fancy a game?
