Wigan face another Hondurance test to keep Figueroa from Spurs

Why settle for one Honduras international when you could have two? Harry Redknapp could be ready to return to Wigan for Maynor Figueroa. Wilson Palacios, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from Wigan for £14million in January, has been an instant success at White Hart Lane as a defensive midfielder. Palacios has given Redknapp good reports of left-back Figueroa and though the Spurs manager has been pleased with Benoit Assou-Ekotto the reliable defender would be a worthwhile £5million investment. Figueroa joined Wigan from Deportivo Olimpia, initially on loan in January 2008 for the remainder of that season. After a complicated process involving work permit and visa issues, Figueroa rejoined the Latics on a second loan last July before signing a three-and-a-half year contract in December after Deportivo received a fee in the region of £500,000. He has been an ever-present for Wigan this season and assistant manager Eric Black is aware that Figueroa could follow former Birmingham midfielder Palacios to a bigger club in the Barclays Premier League. Black said: 'I would imagine Maynor's value has gone up quite a bit from what we got him for. 'Players like him are becoming harder and harder to find. We have picked up two or three but it's not easy. Wilson Palacios has a story which might never be repeated, coming from where he did and ending up at Tottenham for the fee he did. 'We hope we can hang on to him but you never know.'
