Who would be in your World XI? Here's Mine

23 October 2013 10:21

I have thought about this for a couple of weeks now, who would be in my current world XI. So here it is, have a read and leave me a comment, even put your on own team if you want too.

I have gone for a 4-3-3 formation to fit in the players that I have picked.

Goalkeeper- Iker Casillas

The Real Madrid shot stopper in my opinion has consistently been the best keeper in the world for many years. At the age of 32 he has atleast another five years at the top level and ,like a fine wine, goalkeepers get better with age.

Right Back- Philip Lahm

Equally brilliant at both full back positions, I think he is probably the best full back in the world at this moment in time. His range of passing is unbelievable, his assist are incredible and his tackling is out of this world.

Centre Back- Carlos Puyol

Puyol for me epitomises the Barcelona team, commitment, determination and an abundance of talent. Puyol would also be my captain as his leadership on the pitch is second to no one. Pique said “He's someone who, even if you are winning 3-0 and theres a few seconds left, will shout at you if he thinks your concentration is going”

Centre Back- Jan Vertonghan

At the moment I don't think there is a defender in the world who is better than Vertonghan at being aware of what is happening around him. Watch him and you will see his positioning is 99 times out of 100 spot on. And he scores some belters too!

Left Back- Leighton Baines

I thought long and hard about this position but I thought Baines just nicks it over Jordi Alba. How Ashley Cole continues to get ahead of him in the England squad is beyond me. He can run up and down the pitch all game and never seems to get tired, rarely does Baines make a mistake and his free kicks are amazing.

Midfield- Mesut Ozil

The creative midfield maestro is I think the best midfielder in the world. He has an ability to make something out of nothing. He has a confidence and arrogance that is backed up by a skill and genius. Arsenal are privileged to have him.

Midfield- Yaya Toure

The Manchester City man has turned into one of the best players in the world since his move from Spain. I decided to include him to add some steel into the midfield area. There is no stronger and more disciplined holding midfielder in the game. He is also dynamic and can push forward to score goals.

Midfield- Andrea Pirlo

At the ripe old age of 34, Pirlo has been the architect for the success of Juventus, AC Milan and Italy for many years. Not blessed with pace or defensive ability he makes up for it with his touch, control and technique. He is probably the best passer in the game and can make a pass that no other could.

Right Forward- Cristiano Ronaldo

The front three are probably the three best players in the world. Ronaldo is a joy to watch. Pace, ability, skill, determination he has everything. Just sensational.

Left Forward- Gareth Bale

Bale possesses frighting pace and goal scoring ability. He can make a goal from nothing and teams don't know how to defend against him. Taxi for Maicon!!

Centre Forward- Lionel Messi

Who else could there be? The best player in the world, potentially the best player there has ever been. His goal scoring record is second to none and words cannot describe how good the man is.

Please discuss and let me know your thoughts.
