Who is Danny Rose? Sportsmail uncovers Spurs rookie

When Manuel Almunia punched a Tottenham corner 35 yards clear of his goal, he probably didn't think that less than a second later he'd be picking the ball back out of the net. [LNB]But Danny Rose's wonder-strike was true and venomous enough to evade the Arsenal keeper's despairing dive and crashed into, and almost through, the net. [LNB]Cue delirium for Spurs fans who had just watched a contender for goal of the season. Yet there was some confusion for neutrals engrossed in the action. Yes, they'd seen a stunning goal but who scored it? [LNB] Boy wonder: Danny Rose is mobbed by his Tottenham team-mates as they celebrate his thunderbolt strike[LNB] Rose was born in Doncaster on June 2 1990 and signed for the Leeds United academy aged 15. He developed as a pacy winger and was soon training with the first-team. [LNB]However, during the summer of 2006, Rose and his academy team-mates Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods hit the headlines when they were involved in a transfer scandal. [LNB]Chelsea recruited Woods and Taiwo but their transfer infuriated Leeds' chairman Ken Bates who believed the approach to be illegal. [LNB] Blooming marvel: Danny Rose belts his 30-yard volley to send White Hart Lane into raptures against arch rivals Arsenal[LNB]Rose declined to move and remained at Elland Road. The dispute over the two who left was eventually settled, costing the Stamford Bridge club £5million.[LNB]However, just a year later, Rose made the move down to London, not to Chelsea but to north London rivals Tottenham for a fee of £1m. [LNB]He was called into the England Under 21 squad for the European Championships last summer after completing a loan spell at Watford. The loan move infuriated Bates.[LNB]He said: 'He's disappeared into the obscurity of the Spurs training ground. These things should be remembered when parents are considering their son's future. Fast buck now or long-term career prospects?' [LNB] Rosy future: Rose scores for England U21s against Portugal at Wembley last year[LNB]Rose made his debut for Tottenham against Doncaster in the League Cup last August before a two month spell on loan at Peterborough.[LNB]His first start for Spurs came in the FA Cup in January, ironically in the 2-2 draw with his former club Leeds. And his league bow came on Wednesday night against Arsenal, with explosive results.  [LNB] Watch this space: The ex-Leeds youngster has been earmarked for success for club and country after announcing himself in emphatic fashion against Arsenal[LNB]Understandably, boss Harry Redknapp was full of praise for the 19-year-old after his thunderbolt broke the dealock in a heated north London derby.[LNB]'He has great technique and he's a great striker of the ball but he is not going to do that too often, that's for sure! It's a goal he'll never forget,' said Redknapp.[LNB]So, is Rose the next big thing? Maybe not just yet. But in terms of announcing yourself to the Premier League, no player has made a bolder statement.[LNB]  Rose and crown!
