Turner not concerned by transfer talk

Hull defender Michael Turner insists he is focused only on getting fit for the new season despite reports linking him with a move to either Tottenham or Liverpool. The 25-year-old was one of the Tigers' more consistent performers last term as they narrowly staved off relegation and was named the club's player of the year for the second successive season. "I am just concentrating on my training at the moment as I want to get fit for the first game of the season," said Turner. "I have heard about one or two things that have been in the paper but I am not really thinking about it to be honest. I am just concentrating on getting fit." Hull secured their place in the final of the Barclays Asia Trophy with a dogged victory over Beijing Guoan on Wednesday, winning 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. The East Yorkshire side had taken the lead through Geovanni's sublime ninth-minute strike but then struggled to cope with the heat and humidity at Beijing's Workers Stadium and spent much of the rest of the game soaking up numerous attacks by the hosts, who equalised early in the second half. But Hull in the end came out on top and will face Spurs in the final on Friday. "It was very warm and very different from what we are used to," added Turner. "It is all about getting fit for us and a few of us had a good 90 minutes and got a good session out of it. "In the second half the heat told on us and we looked like we were tiring but we expected that and it is all about working hard. "Playing against a big club like Spurs will be a good test for us and hopefully we can do well."
