Transfer News: Tottenham want Phil Neville; Liverpool eye Negredo

One of the most unlikely transfer rumours of the window so far has emerged, with high-flying Tottenham Hotspur linked with a move for Everton's ageing defender Phil Neville.

With Vedran Corluka and Alan Hutton already at the club, there seems little need for the 33-year-old at White Hart Lane. But there are whispers that Harry Redknapp was impressed with Neville's recent displays against Spurs and is also a fan of the ex-Manchester United man's versatility.

David Moyes will not want to sell his influential captain and it is unknown whether the former England player would fancy a move down South.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish will be in control of transfers during January, with a big-money move for Sevilla star Alvaro Negredo a possibility.

Dalglish is desperate to strengthen his forward line with Fernando Torres' poor form continuing. The 25-year-old Spaniard could cost as much as £17 million according to Talk Sport.

Manchester United are interested in Barcelona's defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets. Sir Alex Ferguson is ready with a £25m bid.

Wayne Bridge is close to agreeing a loan deal with West Ham.

Chelsea and Tottenham both want Everton winger Steven Pienaar. The South African is out of contract in the summer.

Fulham want to sign Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips in a £4m deal.
