Tottenham are keen to strengthen their squad this month as they continue to challenge for both domestic and European honours.

Harry Redknapp is desperate for a new striker but is also hopeful of bringing in a defensive-minded midfielder with Tom Huddlestone still out injured.

His preferred choice is Real Madrid man Lassana Diarra. The former Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth star has dropped down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho but could still cost up to £18 million.
