Transfer News: Jenas set for Tottenham exit; Newcastle target Ireland

After the arrival of Steven Pienaar at White Hart Lane, Tottenham look certain to let at least one midfielder leave before the end of January.

Niko Kranjcar is keen on a move but with no clubs showing serious in the Croatian, Jermaine Jenas could well be set to exit North London.

Aston Villa are interested in the former England man as Gerard Houllier looks to completely re-shape his midfield.

Jenas could take the place of out-of-favour Stephen Ireland, who has failed to impress Houllier since arriving in the summer from Manchester City.

A number of clubs have shown interest in taking Ireland on loan, but Newcastle United look to be in pole position.

Alan Pardew is worried about Andy Carroll's current injury problems and sees Ireland as the perfect player to play behind a lone striker.

Sunderland are closing in on a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari.

West Ham are hoping to bring Robbie Keane to Upton Park this week.

Wigan have made a £1m bid for Coventry keeper Keiren Westwood.

Newcastle have rejected Birmingham's bid for striker Shola Ameobi.
