Tottenham's Luka Modric suffers broken leg

Modric is expected to be absent for two months after suffering the injury in a clash with Birmingham's Lee Bowyer. It is anticipated he will be back in training after six weeks.'[LNB]And a statement on Spurs' website read: "X-rays have determined that Luka Modric sustained a fracture to his right fibula during Saturday's victory over Birmingham City at White Hart Lane." [LNB]It is a blow for Harry Redknapp, the Spurs manager, who is missing several key players including Heurelho Gomes, Michael Dawson, Gareth Bale, Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate and Jermaine Jenas. [LNB]Modric has been one of the stars of Tottenham's 100 per cent start to the season, which has put them second in the table behind Chelsea after four games. [LNB]After the forthcoming international break, Spurs face a home game against champions Manchester United and a trip to Chelsea, and Modric's injury could force Redknapp back into the transfer market before Sept 1. [LNB]Last week, Modric had hinted he would be willing to sign fresh terms, and Redknapp said: "If I was the chairman I would certainly be looking to tie him up as soon as we can because he is an amazing footballer."[LNB]
