According to the Mirror[LNB], Inter coach Jose Mourinho has been told he must trim his ageing squad before he can bring in fresh blood.[LNB]One of the first players on Mourinho's hit-list is defender Marco Materazzi who, at 35, is now surplus to requirements and has been touted around the Premier League.[LNB]However, Mourinho is hoping to kill two birds with one stone and offer Materazzi plus cash to Spurs in exchange for Modric.[LNB]The diminutive Croatian midfielder cost Spurs £16.6 million when he moved to White Hart Lane from Dynamo Zagreb last April.[LNB]Inter cannot afford to pay Spurs £16m for Modric, and therefore allow the club to recoup what they paid for the 23-year-old.[LNB]Intead, Mourinho, knowing that Spurs are in the market for an experienced centre-half because of Ledley King's persistent injury problems, has pushed forward the idea of a Materazzi swap.[LNB]Inter are not the only club interested in signing Modric, though, Reports suggest Juventus are also keen.[LNB]Another player linked with a move out of Spurs is Mexican winger Giovanni Dos Santos.[LNB]Dos Santos, who arrived from Barcelona last summer for £6m, has reportedly been offered to Lyon in part exchange for Brazilian striker Fred.[LNB]However, the 19-year-old said: "I have never spoken to Lyon and I would like to stay at Tottenham because ever since I have come to the club I have not had any luck.[LNB]"I am young, ambitious and I want to stay and succeed in England."[LNB]
