Tottenham to Battle Chelsea Over Porto's Incredible Hulk

New Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has made it clear he wants to fend off his former club Chelsea for the signature of Porto striker Hulk.

Hulk is currently in London as part of the Brazilian side who will be facing Team GB's football team on friday. Villas-Boas has coached Hulk before during his time at Porto and knows what kind of talent the 25 year old has, Tottenham have given him the go ahead to begin talks with the club, his agent and Hulk himself to try get the player to White Hart Lane for next season.

Hulk had been expected to join Chelsea for £38m this summer but Tottenham hope to change the Strikers mind by tempting him with more first team action than Chelsea could provide.

The Brazilian would demand wages of around £100,000 a week which would be a struggle for Spurs due to their wage structuring, but they had a similar deal when Emmanuel Adebayor was at White Hart Lane (although this was largely subsidised buy his parent club Manchester City).

Tottenham are still showing interest in Leandro Damiao who currently plays for Internacional. Spurs are also showing interest in Fluminense team mates Wellington Nem and Manuel Lanzini.
