Tottenham stuck in a post-Milan slump in form that has ruined their season

Tottenham's victory in the San Siro 11 weeks ago was one of the finest in their recent history but little has gone to plan since. [LNB]Spurs followed the 1-0 triumph over AC Milan by winning just one of 11 and, after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea, Harry Redknapp admitted his chances of a swift return to the Champions League were fading. [LNB]'It's getting hard, we've got to keep going,' he said. 'It's still possible.' [LNB] Slump: Tottenham have only won once in 11[LNB]But the Spurs boss knows the problem is not only the gap behind Manchester City, or the challenge of Liverpool, who leapfrogged Spurs into fifth by beating Newcastle 3-0 on Sunday. It is Tottenham's slump in form. [LNB]Since Milan, they have drawn six and lost four, leaking 21 goals. [LNB]The two at Chelsea were unfortunate, to say the least. One did not appear to cross the line, although it would not have been an issue if Heurelho Gomes had saved a routine shot by Frank Lampard. The other, a late winner by Salomon Kalou, was just offside. [LNB] Finest hour: Peter Crouch's goal in Milan gave Tottenham a famous victory[LNB]But Redknapp was magnanimous, perhaps conscious of the 2-1 win that Tottenham sneaked at Stoke in August thanks to the officials' failure to see that a Jon Walters header had crossed the line. [LNB]Spurs have recently failed to beat any of the Barclays Premier League's bottom four: Blackpool, Wolves, Wigan and West Ham. The solitary win came against Stoke. [LNB]Goals have been rare, Gareth Bale's fitness has faltered and Gomes has regressed to the error-prone goalkeeper he was upon arriving from PSV Eindhoven. [LNB] Lucky break: Jonathan Walters' effort for Stoke against Tottenham in August crossed the line but was not given[LNB]After a thrilling Champions League, there may be no European football at Spurs next season. The Europa League may be more trouble than it's worth - Redknapp attributes Tottenham's top-four finish last year to the absence of a European campaign - but it can help attract, or keep, players. This is almost a moot point for the manager. [LNB]'I hate it when people say if we don't make the Champions League we're going to sell Gareth Bale or Luka Modric,' he said. 'The way forward is to find one or two top-drawer players and get back in.' [LNB]For now, Spurs must get out of the rut.[LNB] I'll quit!
