Tottenham have signed highly-rated Ivory Coast youth international Souleymane Coulibaly.

The club have announced that the 16-year-old striker has moved to White Hart Lane, having previously played for Italian club Siena's youth team.

Tottenham said in a statement on their website: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Souleymane Coulibaly to join the club."

Details of the move from Siena, and Coulibaly's Tottenham contract, have not been revealed by his new club.

Coulibaly did not make a first-team appearance for Siena, however he shone at the Under-17 World Cup in Mexico last month.

He scored four goals against Denmark and a hat-trick against Brazil as the young Ivory Coast side reached the last 16, where they were knocked out by France, and his haul equalled a tournament record which was set by France's Florent Sinama Pongolle 10 years ago.

Coulibaly's playing style has seen the teenager likened to Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, a fellow Ivorian, and he was linked with moves to many of Europe's leading clubs, including Real Madrid, after his stunning run of goalscoring.
