Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp could offer Ruud van Nistelrooy a dramatic return to England if Roman Pavlyuchenko leaves the club. The Russian striker wants regular starts ahead of next summer’s World Cup and the former Manchester United striker is available as Real Madrid look to trim their squad. Redknapp would rather have the experienced Van Nistelrooy in reserve than the unsettled Russian. Ruud van Nistelrooy Real star: Tottenham could make a bid for Ruud van Nistelrooy Tottenham asked about Van Nistelrooy in June when a three-man Spurs delegation headed by Chairman Daniel Levy met with Real officials. At the time Van Nistelrooy’s £90,000-a-week wage demands put Tottenham off but negotiations could reopen if Pavlyuchenko is sold. Real are desperate to get rid of players and are still hopeful that Arjen Robben will be snapped up by a Premier League club and that Wesley Sneijder will move to Inter Milan. Sneijder is yet to agree personal terms with Jose Mourinho’s side although Inter and Madrid have agreed a fee. And Real insiders are convinced Manchester United or Manchester City will make a deadline day swoop for Robben who they rate at £22m. Real have raised barely half of the expected 100m from sales and are growing increasingly desperate to ship out more unwanted stars before September.
