Tottenham on the verge of swooping for Downing to end mammoth hunt for the Middlesbrough star

Tottenham will finally end their three-year hunt to land Stewart Downing this summer.[LNB]The Middlesbrough winger has been a top target for Spurs ever since the 2006 World Cup.[LNB]Boro have so far resisted all opportunities to cash in the England international despite the star's bid to leave.[LNB] Moving on: Stewart Downing in action for England against Slovakia on Saturday[LNB]But they will finally cave in and offload Downing, 24, at the end of the season.
