The Sun reports that Redknapp was in Italy on Sunday to cast his eye over the Argentine Milito, who scored in Genoa's 2-0 win against Udinese.

Milito was also a firm target for Juande Ramos, Redknapp's predecessor, when Real Zaragoza were prepared to offload him last summer.

Meanwhile, the Mirror reports that former Tottenham manager Martin Jol will look to sign Spurs' Jacques Maghoma in the summer.

Midfielder Maghoma, 21, came through the academy at Tottenham when Hamburg manager Jol was there. He has just been called up to the full Congo squad.

Alan Hutton, the Tottenham full-back, has been allowed to join up with the Scotland squad despite missing the last four months with a stress fracture of his right foot.

Hutton, 24, successfully came through 70 minutes for Spurs reserves against West Brom on Monday night.

Hutton admitted: 'This season has been a nightmare but I can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully my injury problems are behind me now and I can play a part for Spurs and Scotland this season.'
