'I think we deserved to win because we played much better in the first half and in the second we defended very well. [LNB]'I tried to forget about getting sent off here but it helped me focus on playing well[LNB]'The last time I played here it was not easy for me, leaving my team-mates with just ten men - it's hard enough playing here with 11 - so tonight was a much better night and we deserved this great win.[LNB]'It's not easy to play at San Siro, which is why we had to stay focused for the whole game.'[LNB]Defender Jonathan Woodgate made his long-awaited return to the Tottenham side after 15-months on the sidelines, replacing Vedran Corluka after the Croatian was injured by ex-Arsenal midfielder Matthieu Flamini's horror tackle, and was full of praise for Gomes.[LNB] Hands on: Gomes was in inspired form to help Spurs to victory, keeping an important clean sheet [LNB]'He made two world-class saves but he's a top keeper and he's showed what a great keeper he's going to be for us in the future as well,' said Woodgate.[LNB]Gomes believes that the win has convinced his Tottenham team-mates that they can go far in the competition - and in the Premier League - this season, a belief enhanced after missing the likes of key men Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe on Tuesday night.[LNB]He said: 'We are growing in confidence all the time because we finished first in the group and now we have come here and won.[LNB] Back in action: Jonathan Woodgate made his return form a 15-month injury absence to keep Pato at bay[LNB]'This sort of result will strengthen ourbelief to keep going.
