Tottenham fight the big boys to sign Barcelona starlet Bojan on loan deal

Tottenham face competition from some of Europe's biggest clubs in their bid to sign Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic. The 18-year-old - a revelation in his breakthrough season last term - has been frozen out at the Nou Camp this season. Spurs are reported to be interested in signing him on a season-long loan when the window opens in the summer. Lyon, Ajax and Inter Milan are interested in signing him on a permanent contract, but Barca are undecided on whether to dispense with the diminutive forward. His buy-out clause - mandatory under Spanish League rules - is understood to be a staggering 80million euros (£71m). But Barcelona could be tempted to cash in for much less to raise funds for the capture of Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid. Barca may even offer Bojan in part-exchange for Aguero, whose buy-out clause is 55m euros (£49m). Or he could be used in as a makeweight to sign Karim Benzema from Lyon. But with Samuel Eto'o unsettled and considering a summer exit, Barca coach Pep Guardiola may prefer to hang on to a player who scored 11 goals last season. The Spanish coach has struggled to involve Bojan this season, restricting the Under 21 international mostly to Cup games. But he is very much seen as a star for the future, so a loan deal could suit. His age is easy to forget, given the impact he made last season, but he has taken time off training this week to sit exams in Catalan and economics. It is understood he would only move if he was assured he would be a central part of his suitors' plans.
