AARON LENNON says he is in the form of his life and getting better by the day after guiding England to the World Cup Finals. Lennon, chosen ahead of David Beckham and Shaun Wright-Phillips, won the man of the match award on only his second start for the senior team as England crushed Croatia 5-1. It confirms a remarkable turnaround for a player who looked out of form and out of contention only a year ago. ‘I think I’m in the form of my life,’ he said. ‘I’ve continued from last season. A lot of it is down to fitness and working hard, really. I’ve started that and hopefully I can continue it. ‘I’m trying to mix my game up, that’s the thing I think I’ve been improving. As I’ve got older I’ve played more games, I’ve got more consistent and today it came off for me. ‘It was a great game to be involved in, especially for me setting up two goals early on because it was only my second start for England. ‘I think we could have had a few more, we created a lot of chances ‘ the way we played tonight was brilliant.’ The challenge now for Lennon is to keep his place in the team, especially when Arsenal’s Theo Walcott ‘ England’s hero in the away game against Croatia when he scored a hat-trick - returns from injury. ‘Hopefully I can be in the World Cup squad,’ said Lennon. ‘It’s still early doors but hopefully I can maintain the way I’ve been playing and you never know. ‘There are so many other players who can play there. Like I said, I’m just going to concentrate on playing well for Spurs and hopefully I’ll get in there.’ Is Lennon a better prospect than Theo Walcott? Let us hear what you think.
