Jurgen Klinsmann moved from Monaco to Tottenham for the 94-95 season and was not well received by English supporters due to his reputation as a diver and that he was part of the German side that knocked out England in the 1990 world cup.

In one of the most memorable opening games of any Premier league season, Klinsmann marked his debut with a headed goal in the 82nd minute which saw his side end up winning the game 3-4. He discussed his celebration beforehand with Teddy Sheringham who convinced the German to celebrate with a dive which went down a treat with the Spurs faithful.

He instantly won over the fans and went on to win the 1995 footballer writer’s association player of the year. Kids across the country were performing the Klinsmann celebration and over 150,000 Klinsmann shirts were sold.

He finished that season with 30 goals in all competitions for the London side.
