AVB set to re-kindle interest in Brazilian midfielder Willian after the Shaktar Donetsk player admitted he would like to play for his 'friend' Andre Villas-Boas.
Metro are reporting that AVB is set to bid for the Brazilian midfielder again – after failing twice as manager of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Throughout his tenure at Chelsea and Tottenham– AVB has chased the Brazilian in order to bring him to his side. With the January transfer rumour coming up, Willian has increased speculation with his interview to sports paper Metro.
Willian even admitted to Metro his relationship with Villas-Boas.
“He always sends me messages. We are always in touch, and he has become a friend, for sure.”
However – Roberto Di Matteo, head coach at Chelsea, who worked under Villas-Boas when he was manager at Chelsea is also keen on the midfielder. Willian has admitted that it would be difficult for himself to chose between the two sides.
“Chelsea is Chelsea. They are a great time, with amazing players and are the Champions of Europe – I would love to play for either club.”
With summer signing Gylfi Sigurdsson failing to re-create the same form he showed at Swansea last season – AVB is said to be keen on a new creative midfielder to replace Luka Modric at White Hart Lane.
Willian and his Shaktar Donestk side face Chelsea in The Champions League on 23/10/12. AVB will be keen to see his ideal future signing get one over his old club Chelsea – as he goes in for the midfielder in January.
