Teams will come and shut up shop at White Hart Lane, claims Spurs striker Crouch

Peter Crouch believes Tottenham Hotspur's 100 per cent start to the season will see opponents playing more defensively at White Hart Lane. There is a growing respect for Harry Redknapp's reshaped side in the Barclays Premier League and Crouch is aware that this will make it more difficult for Spurs. The England striker said: 'Teams will start playing for a point at White Hart Lane. Birmingham had one up front on Saturday and they tried to pack out the midfield. I've seen it at Anfield [with Liverpool] when teams come and try to sit deep. 'I think it might be the case when teams come to White Hart Lane and try to do the same thing. With the amount of quality we have teams aren't going to want to expose themselves on the break.' Crouch has been used as an impact substitute since his summer move from Portsmouth with Robbie Keane and Jermain Defore starting. He said: 'The manager has a lot of different options now. If it's not working then he can bring something different to the team. It went well against Birmingham when I came on because I felt lively and fresh. I always felt confident I would score in the end and I was really pleased to get my first goal at White Hart Lane 'Obviously I'd prefer to start games and hopefully I've given the manager something to think about.'
