Sunderland signing Bent takes swipe at 'politics' within old club Tottenham

Darren Bent has admitted he is delighted to leave behind the 'politics' at Tottenham. The England international completed his £10million move to Sunderland - which could rise to £16m - on Wednesday after protracted negotiations. Unveiled: Darren Bent Bent, who was fined for criticising Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on Twitter as the move stalled last week, insists he is desperate to get back to enjoying his football. 'There is a lot of politics at Tottenham, but that's Tottenham as aclub,' said the striker. 'I'm a Sunderland player now and it seems alot more relaxed here. The fans are passionate and they have afantastic stadium.  'It is the perfect place for me to play well,score goals and hopefully get back into the England set-up. Theanticipation for this season is massive and I can't wait to get going. 'I want to get back to enjoying my football, I've had to grow up alot in the last two years as a footballer and a person and I'm raringto go this season. I think Steve Bruce is a fantastic manager, when Iknew he was interested in me it just helped the drive for the move tocome about.' Bent revealed that he has no regrets over his rant on Twitter - which accused Levy of holding up his move to Sunderland - claiming the rish had paid off. 'In the long run it seems like it has done but at the same time I was disappointed at the way it came out,' he said. 'Normally we tend to keep our mouths shut and everybody does the talking around us. I just wanted to come to Sunderland. I am delighted to be here and I can't wait to move forward.' 'If it means getting back to playing football and playing regularly I will move anywhere. It doesn't bother me. 'The facilities and stadium are fantastic and Sunderland has the makings of an awesome football club. I like the area, where I'm staying is lovely, has a nice view and it's not as cold as thought it was going to be, it's a nice place to be.'
