Spurs to sell forward duo to fund move for Colombian striker

Spurs have been on the trail of Porto strike ace Jackson Martinez for some weeks and it’s easy to appreciate the clamour considering his exceptional record. Problem for Spurs comes with the phenomenal price tag set by Porto and the fact that the seller holds all the cards in regards to any move.

Bids in the order of £40million will be required although the agent of Martinez has claimed recently that the player is not available in January which would make sense with Champions League commitments.

A report claims that Mauricio Pochettino is considering moving on players that are struggling to find their stride and will consider selling Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor to fund the move.

29-year-old Soldado who started his career at Real Madrid joined Spurs last summer from Valencia and has so far proved to be goal-shy in the Premier League with just 7 goals in 36 appearances. The move cost in the region of £26million and Spurs will be doing well to get a similar return for the struggling forward.

21-year-old Harry Kane has pushed both Soldado and Adebayor into second fiddle roles with his high-energy performances of late and may be thinking that he would be an ideal partner to Martinez. Reports in Portugal claim that Tottenham are one of a number of clubs interested in the striker which likely means they are not interested in negotiating a lower price for their star.

Spurs are starting to find some form of late but will need to fight hard for European football this season, either in the Premier League or by winning the Europa League.
