Spurs take summer spree to the Maxi as they chase Rodriguez and Turan

Tottenham are chasing Atletico Madrid captain Maxi Rodriguez and Galatasaray winger Arda Turan. But the club look to have cooled on Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy after it became apparent he is unlikely to be fully fit until late September. Midfielder Rodriguez, 28, has a wealth of experience playing in the top flight in Spain and is regarded as one of the best left-sided players in La Liga while Turan, who is right-footed but plays on the left, has been voted one of the best young players in the world. Manager Harry Redknapp, who also has an interest in Atletico striker Diego Forlan, is keen to strengthen his squad as uncertainty surrounds the future of Jermaine Jenas and Didier Zokora. Jenas is wanted by Aston Villa, while Zokora is wanted by Sevilla. They are ready to drop their compensation claim against Tottenham regarding the appointment of Juande Ramos if they lower their price for Zokora. Spurs officials are due in court in Seville next week with the Spanish side claiming they are owed at least £1.3m because, in their opinion, Ramos breached his contract to move to White Hart Lane in October 2007. Could Arda Turan be on his way to White Hart Lane? Thus far, Sevilla have yet to receive a response to their offer of £6million for Zokora. Spurs are understood to be looking for around £7.5m for the Ivory Coast midfielder but an out of court agreement over Ramos could bridge the gap.
