Spurs star Wilson Palacios taken to hospital after Honduras fall to Romania

Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios was carried off on a stretcher during Honduras' 3-0 World Cup warm-up defeat to Romania on Saturday.

Honduras team doctor Raul Perez revealed the Spurs star had been admitted to an Austrian hospital for tests on the injury to his shin, but no further details were immediately available.

Honduras are alarmingly without a win in five games leading into the World Cup with their last victory coming against England's Group C rivals United States in January.

Goals from Marius Nicolae in the 20th and Gheorghe Florescu in the 45th minute gave Romania, who failed to qualify for the tournament in South Africa, a 2-0 lead in the first half before Mirel Radoi converted a penalty on 76 to complete the rout.

Honduras opens their World Cup campaign against Chile on June 16 and also plays Switzerland and Spain in Group H.
