Tottenham Hotspur are planning a £4million swoop for West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson.

Vice captain Olsson, only has a year remaining on his contract and is a cheap option to replace Ledley King and William Gallas. The 29-year-old, who is set to start against England on Friday is hoping to seal a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Olsson has only a year remaining on his current contract and has stalled talks over a new deal with the Midlands club. Spurs are positive they will complete the signing of the centre half after the Euros for a fee of £4m.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is trying to invest in several deals which will strengthen their defence, with a £7m deal for Ajax's Jan Vertonghen also a target. It's being suggested Spurs have offered Ledley King a one-year pay-as-you play deal, William Gallas who is 35 in August looks set to leave the club and Michael Dawson has been a long term absentee through injury.
