Spurs plan summer swoop for midfield ace Thauvin

Florian Thauvin is a player that Spurs are looking to return to in the Summer after a January bid was declined in January according to reports.

The player will be familiar from the Champions League encounter between Marseille and Arsenal, drawing comparison with Franck Ribery due to his pace and close-ball control on the wing.

Thauvin signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Marseille in January 2013 after forcing a move from Lille after disputes over an improved contract. The 22-year-old has gone on to make 61 appearances for the Ligue 1 side and has been described by Toulouse manager Alain Casanova as “…someone who is able to disrupt any opponent, someone very dangerous when he picks up speed. Very dangerous indeed.”

The report in the Mirror suggests that despite Tottenham having their January bid declined that the French club will be open to selling in the summer as they will need to raise cash. Spurs will face competition from Valencia to sign the player who has significant versatility and can also be deployed as a second striker.
