Spurs' Modric has leg fracture

LONDON (AFP) - Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp faces being without Luka Modric until the autumn after the diminutive Croatian suffered a leg fracture in Saturday's 2-1 win over Birmingham, the club revealed Sunday.[LNB]Ledley King was also in the wars, suffering a leg strain, as Spurs extended heir perfect start to the English Premiership season.[LNB]Spurs said playmaker Modric had fractured his right fibula.[LNB]Redknapp was already without Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson, Heurelho Gomes and Jermaine Jenas due to injuries, and now will have to shuffle his diminished pack still further.[LNB]Modric was initially thought to have suffered a badly bruised calf following a kick to the side of his leg, but he is now set to miss his country's World Cup qualifying encounter against England on September 9.[LNB]He is also set to sit out upcoming Spurs' upcoming crunch games against Manchester United and Chelsea.[LNB]Even before the full extent of Modric's injury became clear, Redknapp said: "I could be looking to bring someone in before the window shuts because we are short."
