Spurs midfielder Zokora set to choose Birmingham ahead of Sevilla

Birmingham are ready to make a late charge to beat Sevilla to the signing of Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora. The 28-year-old midfielder has been ousted from the first-team since the arrival of Wilson Palacios at White Hart Lane and could be sold with boss Harry Redknapp keen to raise funds. Sevilla have already made clear their desire to sign the Ivory Coast international, despite Zokora's reluctance to leave England. But the Spanish club could find themselves trumped by Birmingham with the Midlands side ready to offer Zokora a Premier League lifeline. Zokora has already voiced his frustration at failing to earn regular first-team football with Spurs and is desperate to kick-start his career. And with the player unwilling to uproot his family away from their London home, a move to St Andrews to team up with Blues boss Alex McLeish looks likely.
