Spurs hopeful over Bassong

Tottenham are hopeful of centre-back Sebastien Bassong being fit of the Barclays Premier League clash against Manchester United on Saturday despite missing Cameroon's midweek clash against Gabon. The 23-year-old picked up a slight knock to one of his knees against the same opponents last weekend and missed the return clash on Wednesday night, although Paul Le Guen's decision to leave him out of the squad was thought to be down to selection rather than injury. Fellow centre-back Ledley King is also confident of playing against United after recovering from a groin injury he suffered during the last-gasp win over Birmingham before the international break. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp already has Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Dawson sidelined. "We are looking to get some of our longer-term injured players back now like Michael Dawson, Gareth Bale, Jonathan Woodgate and Jermaine Jenas," Redknapp said. "They should all be coming back to fitness pretty soon and when they do return it will make the squad even stronger."
