Spurs give Rose the chance to bloom with loan spell at Peterborough

Tottenham's teenage England prospect Danny Rose is joining Peterborough on loan after being given the go-ahead by Harry Redknapp to further his football education away from White Hart Lane. Redknapp has high hopes that his £1million signing from Leeds will develop into a permanent fixture in Tottenham's midfield but, after naming him on the bench in recent weeks, wants him to gain first-team experience in the Coca Cola Championship. Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson was happy to oblige, following an uncertain start by his side after their promotion from League One last season, and welcomed Rose to London Road on a month's loan. Such was Rose's reputation as one of the brightest midfield talents in the country, as he made his way through Leeds United's academy, that Tottenham had no hesitation in paying £1m up front for his signature, with add-ons to follow, depending on appearances and achievements. He was only a couple of weeks past his 17th birthday at the time, but he has continued to progress at Tottenham to such a degree that he won his first England Under 21 cap as substitute against Azerbaijan in June. The 19-year old was farmed out to Watford on loan last April, with then-manager Brendan Rodgers handing him a debut against Doncaster and enthusing: 'He is both highly talented and fully committed. He has great energy and a real intelligence in possession.' Redknapp feels he is close to challenging for a first-team place at Tottenham and is confident he will be nearer than ever after benefiting from a month at Peterborough under the guidance of Ferguson.
