Spurs confident as they wait on Paulinho decision?

Andre Villas-Boas is keen to strengthen his midfield engine room and has targeted Brazilian 24 year old Paulinho as the man to fit the bill. The strong box-to-box player seems ideally suited to the English game and in currently strutting his stuff for the Seleccio in the Confederations Cup.

The player himself has confirmed that a bid has been received from the north London club, and has expressed his interest in the possibility of moving to England. He will however delay any decision until the end of the tournament. Tottenham however appear to be fairly relaxed with the situation and look confident that the Brazilian will join up.

This summer appears to be a pivotal period in the evolution of Spurs and may well define Villas-Boas’s tenure at the club. With increasing pressure being applied from Real Madrid to try and lever Gareth Bale away, the club will want to enter the new season not only with Bale still in the squad, but to have strengthened the squad sufficiently to allow a successful campaign for Champions’ League football. Anything short of that, come season end, could mean an inevitable split with Bale.
