David Bentley's shame in a drink-driving incident will be reinforced by a fine from Tottenham for a player whose career has spiralled alarmingly in the past 12 months. The midfielder was cautioned by Hertfordshire Police after his car allegedly crashed into a lamp-post in the early hours of Thursday. He will appear before a magistrate later this month. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp said: 'There will be internal action, of course. I'm very anti-drinking to start with and very, very anti-drinking anddriving. 'There is no place for that. David is very lucky that no onewas injured in an accident, so he's got off quite lightly really. 'He's really low about what he's done. It's not something that we can stand for.
