Spurs boss Harry Redknapp backs old pal Avram Grant for Portsmouth job

Harry Redknapp has tipped Avram Grant for the Portsmouth manager's job following the sacking of Paul Hart yesterday.[LNB]Former Pompey boss Redknapp also gave Grant his backing for the post after Hart was forced out of Fratton Park having taken only seven points from 13 matches in the Barclays Premier League this season.[LNB]Grant, appointed Portsmouth's director of football only last month, worked as a technical director at Fratton Park during Redknapp's second spell as manager in 2006.[LNB] Paying the penalty: Kevin-Prince Boateng has his penalty saved by Stoke's Thomas Sorensen - an event Harry Rednapp said caused Paul Hart's sacking[LNB]And the Spurs boss revealed that his experience of working with Grant has convinced him the Israeli would make an ideal replacement for Hart.[LNB]'Avram's there and he worked with me there. He's managed Chelsea,' Redknapp said. 'I'd be surprised if he didn't end up taking it.[LNB] 'It's a good opportunity for him to get back into management. But I don't know, only he'd know what he wants to do.
