Spot kick or spot on?

Howard Webb was right not to give Tottenham a penalty at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, according to Sky Sports expert Jason Cundy. Cundy was an impartial viewer at the weekend as two of his former sides Chelsea and Tottenham went to war, with The Blues eventually running out 3-0 winners. However, things could have been very different had referee Howard Webb pointed to the spot for a second half challenge by Ricardo Carvalho on Robbie Keane, which had Spurs incensed that a penalty was not given. Harry Redknapp was furious with the official after the game, but Cundy is convinced Carvalho did not make sufficient enough contact with the grounded Keane. "There is no doubt there is contact, but I think Robbie Keane makes the most of it," Cundy told Sky Sports News. "It is a clumsy challenge by Carvalho, but I don't think there's enough in the incident to give a penalty. "Look at the way Keane's right foot lands, it doesn't land naturally, the manner in which he goes down is unconvincing. "I'm not saying it's a dive, but I don't think it's a penalty. It's definitely a clumsy challenge but Keane just falls a little too easily - it's not natural - and I think the ref has got it spot on. "It's a heart in the mouth moment for Chelsea, if it is given they can have little complaint, but I'm not sure there's enough contact to warrant a penalty." Victory for Chelsea means they have maintained their 100 percent start to the season, but there will be some concern over the sight of Didier Drogba leaving the field on a stretcher. Fears have arisen that he may have tweaked a hamstring or damaged a calf, and Cundy admits Chelsea are not the same team without him. "If Didier Drogba was English, how much of a help would that be to Fabio Capello?" said the former defender. "He's the focal point of Chelsea's attack, he's strong, robust and he's such a handful. Even when he shouldn't be getting to balls, he showed with Sunday's goal that he can make things happen. "If he is injured for a lengthy spell that would be a concern for Chelsea. He will definitely be away for the African Cup of Nations, it will be interesting to see how Chelsea cope with that bearing in mind the transfer ban. "You can never tell how injured Didier is, but you can be sure that Chelsea do not have a man to replace his style. "Nicolas Anelka can play by himself but he is different to Drogba. You've also got Daniel Sturridge who is young and learning his trade, and Salomon Kalou who is a second striker. "Only Anelka can play by himself, but Drogba would be sorely missed."
