Should Lallana be Tottenham's top target?

Despite the World Cup ongoing, Transfer Rumours and Domestic happenings never cease. As soon as Mauricio Pochettino took over White Hart Lane, it was only a matter of time before some of ex-side Southampton's players were linked. The most sought after of the impressive group at St.Marys has been Adam Lallana. However, there are a lot of if's and but's about him leaving the South Coast and for whom and why.

After being heavily linked with Liverpool a few weeks ago, reports of the England International - currently in Brazil of course - have died down. The Daily Mail reported a few days ago that 'Tottenham believe they can capture Adam Lallana after the World Cup'. Just paper talk maybe, but if Lallana was to be Spurs target, where would he fit in? With Christian Eriksen a reasonably similar player to the Saints Star and the abundance of Attacking Midfielders/Creators at the Club, some may see him as not a priority. Having first thought this, I now have to say that if and a still a big if, Southampton can be tempted to sell, Lallana should be a target.

There will no doubt be exits at Spurs, with the possibility of the likes of Sigurdsson and Holtby allowed to go. That aside, good players can play together, so worries about Eriksen and Lallana not coping in the same team are premature. With Erik Lamella hopefully getting his chance (or even Townsend or Lennon) on the right hand side, Could Tottenham line up something like the following? (From R to L)

Mid - Mid

Lamella - Eriksen - Lallana

Spurs didn't score enough goals - especially at home last season - meaning the creative side has still to be worked on. The Three Attacking Midfielders can also easily interchange. This is all speculation of course and having lost Boss Pochettino and Rickie Lambert this summer, Southampton will be doing everything to keep their other Stars. If he is a target however, Don't assume it has to affect Eriksen.
