Sherwood handed new Spurs role

Tottenham have announced the appointment of former midfielder Tim Sherwood as technical co-ordinator.[LNB] The 41-year-old has been promoted to the newly-created position after working as a part-time first-team coach since November 2008.[LNB]Sherwood's remit is to manage and co-ordinate player development across all the club's squads, including the supervision and monitoring of loan placements, technical coaching and physical improvement.[LNB]Chris Ramsey, the current assistant academy manager and head of player development Under 9-16s, will move into the role of assistant technical co-ordinator working alongside Sherwood and strikers' coach Les Ferdinand.[LNB]"We will be geared towards ensuring players at all levels are achieving their full potential in order to optimise their position at the club - always with a view of benefiting first-team player selection," Sherwood told the club's official website.[LNB]"Chris Ramsey brings a vast knowledge of youth and academy football, both from being at this club and elsewhere, having also previously worked with senior professionals. He will be a great asset to us."[LNB]Sherwood made 118 appearances for Spurs between 1999 and 2002 having previously captained Blackburn to the 1995 Premier League title. He also won three caps for England before finishing his career with Coventry in 2005.
