Tottenham are closing in on Internacional midfielder Sandro and hope to tie up a £16million deal for the Brazilian before the transfer window slams shut next Tuesday. Spurs are reported to have had a £14m bid rejected but club chairman Daniel Levy has been in Brazil for several days to discuss the player's contract situation. Manager Harry Redknapp is keen to sign another strong defensive player to line up alongside Wilson Palacios and Sandro is his first choice to bring to White Hart Lane. Sandro Spurs-bound: Spurs are hoping to tie up a deal for 20-year-old midfielder Sandro Internacional want £26m for Sandro but Spurs are hopeful they can sign the 20-year-old for around £16m. The deal is complicated because 30 per cent of the player's rights are owned by investors and Sandro may struggle to get a work permit as he has not yet played for Brazil. Although, Brazil coach Dunga did this week call up the midfielder for the 2010 South American World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Chile in September.
