Sandro flies in for Tottenham medical as Brazil midfielder finally agrees deal

Tottenham have finally agreed a deal to sign Brazil midfielder Sandro after talks stretching back to last summer.[LNB]The 21-year-old flew to London late on Monday night and will undergo a medical this week before heading back to his club Internacional for the rest of the season. [LNB]Internacional revealed the deal on their website and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp confirmed he was looking forward to welcoming Sandro.[LNB]Samba star: Sandro (left) is heading to White Hart Lane[LNB][LNB]'I had a phone call this morning from the chairmansaying he thought we were close to doing it and hopefully it will be agood signing,' said Redknapp.[LNB]'He's an outstanding young player and he's already played for Braziland captained the youth teams so we're looking forward to getting himhere.[LNB]'He is strong. He looks a very, very good player so I am looking forward to getting him here.'[LNB]Strong arm tactics: Sandro holds off Cerro's Alvaro Mello[LNB]The deal is thought to be worth £6.5million - though reports inBrazil claim the fee could be as high as £9m - and is subject to Sandrobeing granted a work permit.[LNB]With only one cap, he does not meet the requirements toautomatically be granted a work permit and Spurs must argue his casebefore a panel.[LNB]Spurs confirmed on their website: 'We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Internacional for the transfer of Sandro to the club, subject to the player passing a medical examination.' [LNB]Harry Redknapp first targeted the 6ft 1in combative midfielder lastsummer after Spurs and Internacional signed a strategic pact.
