Roma's Roman: Italians eye cut-price Spurs outcast Pavlyuchenko
Roma are preparing an £8.7million move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko after being priced out of a move for Sevilla hit man Luis Fabiano.
The Serie A club are keen to strengthen their attack but were quoted prices of more than double for Brazil striker Fabiano, who has previously interested Chelsea.
Roma boss Luciano Spalletti will instead turn to Pavlyuchenko, according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, who scored 14 goals but was largely viewed as a disappointment in his first season at White Hart Lane.

Spurs are understood to welcome offers for the Russia striker, but they will hope not to make a loss on a player they paid Spartak Moscow £13.8million for last summer.
The 27-year-old is currently with the Russia national team ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Finland in Helsinki on Wednesday night.
