Roman strike could be worth millions

Sebastien Bassong and Roman Pavyluchenko spared Tottenham's blushes as they came from 3-0 down to lose 3-2 to Young Boys to keep their Champions League dream alive. Spurs were beaten in the play-off round first leg but will be delighted with a comeback after a humiliating half-hour at the Stade de Suisse in which their hapless defence was torn to shreds. Senad Lulic put them ahead, sliding a left-foot shot past Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes after just four minutes. Henri Bienvenu made it two with a precise finish and Xavier Hochstrasser snatched a third before the half-hour mark as Tottenham's defence went AWOL. It took defender Sebastien Bassong's headed goal from a set-piece just before half-time to take some of the sting out of what must have been a paint-stripping Harry Redknapp half-time team talk. Pavyluchenko finally came good seven minutes from time to get Tottenham well and truly back into the tie. The Russian dummied Vedran Corluka's ball and Robbie Keane picked out his resulting run, from which he lashed the ball past Marco Wolfli at the near post.
