Robbie Keane set for Celtic as Tottenham Hotspur agree 'dream' loan move for striker

Celtic have launched a last-minute bid to sign Robbie Keane on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.[LNB]Although the transfer window slammed shut at 5pm in England, clubs north of the border have until midnight on Monday to complete deals.[LNB]Spurs have been willing to offload Keane, though Barclays Premier League clubs were unwilling to meet the asking price for a permanent deal or pay the loan fee that the north London club were seeking.[LNB] On the move: Robbie Keane (right) could be heading out of Tottenham Hotspur[LNB]However, the 29-year-old - a boyhood Celtic fan - could yet secure a move to Parkhead to the end of the season in a move that could have implications for Roman Pavlyuchenko's future at White Hart Lane.[LNB]Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed he was made aware of Celtic's interest in Keane at about 5pm and said he 'wouldn't stand in the way' of the move.[LNB]'I don't think it's been sorted yet but it looks like it probably will happen,' Redknapp told Sky Sports News.[LNB]'Robbie needs to play and with us he's not starting matches.  He's too good a player not to be starting, he wants to play all the time.  [LNB]'I have (Peter) Crouch in good form with (Jermain) Defoe and I have( Roman) Pavlyuchenko who came in and scored.[LNB] Making way: Scott McDonald (left) is heading out of Celtic[LNB]'I took Eidur Gudjohnsen (on loan), so it's difficult to guarantee Robbie a starting place.  He loves his football, he's at his best when he's playing regularly.  Celtic is a dream for him so we decided to let him go on loan for the rest of the season.[LNB]'Eidur has looked great in training and with the three lads in front of him it has been difficult for Robbie.  [LNB]Staying put: Pavlyuchenko [LNB]'Apart from a spell at Liverpool, he's been a top, top player allthe time. He is not starting and playing regularly, he's not the typeof boy who will sit around and take his money and not play.'[LNB]'Ithink it is a move that appeals to him.  He's a big Celtic man and togo up there and play, it's a bit like Roy Keane when he went to Celticfrom Manchester United.[LNB]'For the Irish lads it is in their blood and they dream of playing for Celtic one day.  This is something he wants to take and we don't want to stand in his way.'[LNB]Celtic have sold Scott McDonald to Middlesbrough in a £3.5million deal to make way for the former Liverpool striker, who was making his way up to Scotland on Monday evening with the intention of completing the move.[LNB]Keane had interested a number of clubs, including West Ham United and Sunderland, but a deal could not be agreed for him to stay in England.[LNB]The transfer seems likely dash Pavlyuchenko's hopes of returning to Russia.[LNB]The 28-year-old had been determined to quit the club after failing to start a single Barclays Premier League match this season.[LNB]But Redknapp remains an admirer of the former Spartak Moscow man and refused to sanction his sale unless a handsome offer came in.[LNB]Pavlyuchenko had made it clear he did not want to join Birmingham, who had two bids rejected in the last few days of January.[LNB]Lokomotiv Moscow remain interested and had the advantage of the Russian transfer window being open till March.[LNB]They were happy to let the window close in England knowing that they would be clear to make a move without European rivals driving up the price.[LNB]But it now seems unlikely that Redknapp will want to let both Keane and Pavlyuchenko leave, despite bringing in Gudjohnsen on loan from Monaco.[LNB] TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY LIVE: Adam Johnson poised for switch to Manchester City, West Ham complete signing of Benni McCarthy and Portsmouth reject Stoke's £3m bid for Asmir Begovic - all the deals and drama as they happenKamara leaves Fulham for Celtic as Hoops also pick up Motherwell's SlaneMiddlesbrough win race to sign Tottenham's Kyle Naughton on loanCELTIC FC
