Redknapp set to win Modric battle

Luka Modric is now expected to stay at Spurs after Harry Redknapp revealed he is likely to play against Manchester City on Sunday. Modric was left out of the Tottenham side for Monday's trip to Manchester United amid ongoing interest from Chelsea, who had hoped a bid in the region of £30million would have been enough to land the Croatia star.

Redknapp and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy have insisted all summer the midfielder would not be sold and it seems the saga is finally heading for a conclusion after Redknapp revealed Modric will be involved against City.

The 25-year-old has met with Levy again in the last 24 hours and Spurs are now very confident of keeping the star at White Hart Lane.

"He'll (Modric) be playing on Sunday for sure. I think there was a meeting. Daniel just said the same thing, he's not for sale," Redknapp said."It's been difficult for him but we want him to stay and he will stay. He should be fit for Sunday.

"He could have kicked up and been a problem and if he had done it would have been difficult to keep him. If players want to be destructive they can be but he's not got that in his nature.

"He'll stay and play and will be great as he has been every other year."
