Redknapp: I'm yet to choose my No 1 as Spurs battle between Gomes and Cudicini hots up

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has refused to close the door on Heurelho Gomes after insisting he has yet to choose his No 1 goalkeeper. The Brazilian has endured a tough debut season in the Barclays Premier League since his £7.8m summer transfer from PSV Eindhoven. After taking over at Tottenham this season, Redknapp signed Carlo Cudicini in a move that cast serious doubt over Gomes's future. But he performed well in Sunday's Carling Cup final defeat to Manchester United and was preferred to Cudicini for Wednesday's 4-0 Premier League win at home to Middlesbrough. And Redknapp is expected to keep faith with Gomes for tomorrow's match at Sunderland. The Tottenham boss said: 'Gomes is in the team at the moment. I don't have a No 1 goalkeeper. When I signed Carlo from Chelsea in January, it was difficult to leave Gomes out and it was hard to leave out Carlo for the game against Boro. 'I will pick whoever is in form and whoever is right on a particular occasion.' Gomes made a number of high profile blunders earlier in the season, but appears to have put his nightmare start to life in England behind him with some consistent displays between the posts for Tottenham.
