Redknapp: I missed out on Diarra but Beckham won't be coming to Spurs

Harry Redknapp tried to bring Lassana Diarra, the Real Madrid midfielder, back to English football. Redknapp signed the France international for Portsmouth from Arsenal in January last year for £5.5 million. A year later Diarra joined Real for £20 million and Redknapp admitted: 'We spoke to Real Madrid and made an inquiry but there was nothing doing.' The Spurs boss was also keen on former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira, now with Inter Milan, but ruled out any swoop for David Beckham. Redknapp said: 'Patrick was someone I was interested in but I'm not sure where that's gone. It's not developed. 'David's a great player and a great professional but we have players in that position so nothing will happen there.'
