Darren Bent couldn't believe he missed a gilt-edged late chance against Portsmouth Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has held clear-the-air talks with striker Darren Bent and has no intention of selling him during the January transfer window. Redknapp was fuming with Bent after he missed a golden chance to hand Spurs a priceless win over Portsmouth last Sunday and said his wife could have put the chance away. Bent was totally unmarked inside the box and had the goal at his mercy but somehow managed to put his header wide of the post. The Tottenham manager has no regrets over his comments and will continue to be honest with his players if they fail to show their best form. Redknapp said: 'There are no problems with Darren. I was just asked if we should have won the game with that opportunity and I said yes. 'You keep pussy footing around with people. What am I supposed to say? It was a really good try and he was really unlucky and did his best with that. Darren Bent headed wide of the post on Sunday with the goal at his mercy 'The lad has done well since I've been here and has scored goals. He scored the goal at Watford that put us through to the semi-finals of the Carling Cup and got two great goals at Manchester City for us. 'He is our leading goalscorer and has been excellent. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he has no intention of selling Darren Bent this month 'If I had the hump every time someone said something about me I would never come out every morning. It is frightening. Sometimes you say what you actually think and people take offence to it. I don't even regret saying it.'   More...
