Redknapp hails new team spirit

Harry Redknapp says that the atmosphere and team spirit at Tottenham has transformed since he became manager. Spurs were bottom of the Premier League when Redknapp arrived last season, but the former Portsmouth boss eventually led them to an eighth-place finish. Now they are the early pacesetters two games into the current campaign after a home win against Liverpool and a 5-1 hammering of Hull City at the KC Stadium. Redknapp revealed that some unhappy players had been completely isolated from the rest of the squad under previous manager Juande Ramos, adding that he was quick to correct the situation. "It's like night and day. It's a much different feel to when I was first here," he said. Attitude"When I came here there were players who weren't part of it. They were isolated and sent to one side. That doesn't help. "Unless someone really takes a liberty or is a nuisance, that isn't my style to send people training with the youth team. I couldn't do that. "The attitude now is that we are all in it together. Some are disappointed they are not playing but they are all pulling together and if they stick together we'll be in for a good season." The veteran manager insists that the current Tottenham side is still a work in progress but is sure his side already has the quality to match anybody on their day. "This is a team that is improving and there is still a long way to go," Redknapp added. Stronger "We've got good players here and I think we can give anyone a game - we showed that last year. "We beat Chelsea last year fair and square, we were playing well at Old Trafford before losing. We're stronger this year." Much has been made of the striking dilemma at White Hart Lane, with Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe having their starting spots put under pressure by new recruit Peter Crouch and Russian Roman Pavlyuchenko. Defoe has made a flying start, scoring a hat-trick against Hull, but Redknapp insists Keane has been equally valuable to the side in the first two games. He said: "Robbie comes deep and pops up everywhere. At the start of the Hull game he was on the ball with 15 touches in the first five minutes. Robbie, Robbie, Robbie. "He made us play. The little fellow (Defoe) is making runs and Robbie is sliding him in."
