Redknapp defends Levy over Bent

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes it is the club's prerogative to hold out for the right offer for Darren Bent following reports the striker has hit out at chairman Daniel Levy as his proposed move to Sunderland drags on. A Twitter account in the England international's name carried a series of scathing attacks against Levy on Thursday, who is believed to be playing hardball with the Black Cats over the fee for player. It is thought Levy is attempting to recoup the £16.5million that Tottenham paid to sign Bent from Charlton two years ago, while Sunderland were hoping to pay £12million rising to £14million. Redknapp insists he is unaware of the details of the situation but gave his backing to Levy's judgement, saying: "I haven't seen a paper so I don't know what has happened. I don't deal with that side of it. "At the end of the day the club and the chairman have negotiated a deal and he (Levy) knows what he wants and if he doesn't get it then he doesn't accept the offer. "It is up to whoever wants to buy him to pay what the club wants and if they don't then there is no deal. That's football."
